MANIFESTO

i wrote this as an introduction to an assignment. it sums up my passion for food :)

You would think that as someone who spent most of their childhood baking, studied a Bachelor of Food Technology, worked in various commercial kitchens and spends any spare dollar on cooking equipment, that I would proclaim myself to be the ultimate foodie. But I have to admit the act of eating food, savoring it’s flavour and marveling over the texture, is only a fraction of why I love food. To the outsider, yes, I am an absolute foodie. But unlike a lot of foodies I don’t obsess over great flavour, give me plain pasta and olive oil any day of the week. What I do obsess over is making something from scratch, the satisfaction of knowing I created something with my own hands. It’s the process. It’s the reiterations. It’s the learning. That’s what consumes me. Food is simply my chosen medium to create and share my passion for learning and growth.  Now don’t get me wrong, I still try my darndest to make anything I make taste mighty good, and I take pride in sharing my creations with those around me.
